Family Law Service
The Family Law Unit helps victims of domestic violence in civil legal matters including:
- Orders of protection
- Child Custody and Visitation
- Paternity determination
- Child Support
- Spousal Suppport
- Child Abuse and Neglect
- Pro Se Divorce clinic
- Referrals to other services

Immigration Unit
Staff helps documented and undocumented immigrant victims of domestic violence in immigration
matters. Legal Center staff files petitions on behalf of clients that seek:
- Permanent residency
- Work permits
- Medicaid and other public benefits
- Benefits for children
- Temporary visas
In addition, immigration unit staff advocate for clients during criminal prosecution of
abusers and advocate for governmental benefits.

Advocacy Services
Advocacy services provide victims with the support they need during legal
proceedings to feel safe and empowered.
- Lay Legal Advocacy (or “Sister-In-Law) program offers trained volunteers
to work with clients to provide individualized support, court accompaniment,
and advocacy during legal proceedings.
- The Legal Center’s Court advocates are available for clients in both the
White Plains and Yonkers Integrated Domestic Violence Courts to offer support,
advocacy, and information.
