Who We Are

My Sisters’ Place (MSP) has grown from a grassroots task force and drop-in center, first organized in 1975 and formalized in 1978, into the leading resource in Westchester County, New York and the surrounding region in the field of domestic violence programming, advocacy, and legal services. Throughout our history, My Sisters’ Place has offered a holistic approach to the many and varied needs of domestic violence victims, including safety, supportive healing services for themselves and their children, economic opportunity, and housing. We work with each victim to develop a plan that will free her from the violence, taking her entire life situation into account and using all of the programs and services available. We provide both residential and non-residential direct services, all of which aim to restore the victim’s sense of security and dignity. The mission of My Sisters’ Place reflects our commitment to our clients and our community:

My Sisters’ Place strives to engage each member of society in our work to end domestic violence, so that all relationships can embrace the principles of respect, equality, and peacefulness. Since 1978, we have advanced this mission throughout the Westchester County region with advocacy, community education, and services to those harmed by domestic violence. Through advocacy, we act as a force for social change in law and public policy. Through community education, we challenge public perceptions of intimate violence and the social inequities that give rise to it, and we promote prevention with a special emphasis on youth. Through direct services, we support the abused, primarily women and their children, in seeking safety, self-determination, and justice.
